Ingredients

Main ingredients
  • 400 grams Tofu Use firm tofu for best texture
  • 1/4 cup Soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Gochujang (Korean chili paste)
  • 1 tablespoon Sugar or honey Adjust sweetness to taste
  • 3 cloves Garlic Minced
  • 2 stalks Scallions Chopped
  • 2 tablespoons Sesame oil
  • 1/2 cup Water
  • 2 cups Rice For serving

Method

Preparation
  1. Press the tofu to remove excess water and cut it into cubes.
  2. In a pan, heat sesame oil over medium heat and add the tofu, cooking until golden brown on all sides.
  3. In a bowl, mix together soy sauce, gochujang, sugar or honey, minced garlic, and water.
  4. Pour the sauce over the browned tofu in the pan, add chopped scallions, and simmer for about 10 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  5. Serve hot over cooked rice.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. To freeze, keep in mind texture may change slightly. Reheat in a pan and add a dash of water to restore sauciness. For extra crunch, add sesame seeds atop before serving. Optionally, mix in more veggies like bell peppers or snap peas.
