Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the mashed bananas, sugar, and butter until smooth.
  3. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.
  4. In another bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually stir this mixture into the banana mix until just blended.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips, if using.
  6. Drop spoonfuls onto a greased baking sheet.
Baking

  2. Let cool on a wire rack.
