Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined Fresh shrimp is preferred for best flavor.
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced Mince finely for best flavor distribution.
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 medium lemon, juice Fresh lemon juice works best.
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes Optional for heat.
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped For garnish.
  • to taste Salt and black pepper
  • 1/4 cup dry white wine or chicken broth Suitable as a substitute.
  • Cooked pasta or crusty bread Optional, for serving.

Method

Preparation
  1. Rinse shrimp under cold water and pat dry thoroughly with paper towels. Set aside.
  2. Peel and mince garlic finely.
Cooking
  1. Place a large skillet over medium heat. Add olive oil and butter, allowing the butter to melt completely and bubble (about 2 minutes; don’t let it brown!).
  2. Add minced garlic and cook, stirring constantly for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Place the shrimp in a single layer in the skillet and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Cook for 2-3 minutes on one side until pink and slightly golden, then flip and cook the other side for another 2 minutes.
  4. Pour in the white wine (or chicken broth) and scrape the bottom of the pan to loosen those tasty browned bits. Let it simmer for 1-2 minutes to reduce slightly.
  5. Squeeze fresh lemon juice over the shrimp. If you like a little heat, toss in red pepper flakes and stir in the chopped parsley.
  6. Give everything a quick stir and taste. Adjust salt or lemon if needed. Serve immediately over cooked pasta or with crusty bread.

Notes

For best results, use fresh shrimp and don't overcook them. Serve over pasta or with bread to enjoy the sauce.
