Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 3 lb chicken breasts (trimmed of excess fat)
  • 1.5 cups BBQ sauce
  • 1/2 onion (finely diced into 1/4-inch pieces)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1.5 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2.5 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika

Method

Preparation
  1. Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and sauté the diced onion until it’s soft.
  2. In the Crockpot, place your trimmed chicken breasts.
  3. Mix the BBQ sauce, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, minced garlic, and smoked paprika in a bowl, then pour it over the chicken.
  4. Add in the sautéed onion and stir to coat the chicken.
  5. Cover and cook on low for about 6 hours or high for about 3 hours, until the chicken is fork-tender.
  6. Shred the chicken inside the Crockpot for a perfectly saucy finish.

Notes

Opt for bone-in chicken for a juicier result. Adjust the brown sugar for sweetness or use honey instead. Consider making a double batch and refrigerate some for meal prep.
