Ingredients
  

For the tofu
  • 1 block firm tofu, pressed and sliced Press the tofu well to remove excess moisture.
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour Can use gluten-free flour for a gluten-free option.
  • 1/2 cup plant-based milk
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs Mix with seasonings for flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • to taste Salt and pepper
For the sandwich
  • 2 cups marinara sauce Use your favorite or homemade sauce.
  • 1 cup dairy-free cheese shreds
  • to taste Bread of choice (hoagie rolls or ciabatta) Use gluten-free bread for a gluten-free option.
  • to taste Fresh basil for garnish

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Set up a breading station with three bowls: one with flour, one with plant-based milk, and one with breadcrumbs mixed with garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  3. Dip each tofu slice first in flour, then in plant-based milk, and finally in the breadcrumb mixture, making sure to coat evenly.
Baking
  1. Place the breaded tofu slices on a baking sheet and bake for 25-30 minutes until crispy and golden.
  2. In a baking dish, layer marinara sauce, then add the baked tofu, and top with dairy-free cheese shreds.
  3. Bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until the cheese is melted.
Serving
  1. Serve the crispy tofu parm on your choice of bread, garnished with fresh basil.

Notes

Store leftovers separately in airtight containers. Keep crispy tofu in the fridge for up to 3 days. If assembled, consume within a day for best texture.
