Ingredients
  

Crust
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Can be substituted with gluten-free flour.
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup coconut oil, melted
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup For crust.
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
Filling
  • 1 cup blood orange juice Freshly squeezed for best flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup For filling.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Fresh blood orange slices For garnish.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix the flour, cocoa powder, melted coconut oil, 1/4 cup maple syrup, and salt to form a crust.
  3. Press the mixture into a tart pan and bake for 10-12 minutes.
  4. In a saucepan, combine blood orange juice, cornstarch, 1/4 cup maple syrup, and vanilla extract over medium heat.
  5. Stir until thickened.
  6. Pour the citrus filling into the cooled crust.
  7. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours until set.
  8. Garnish with fresh blood orange slices before serving.

Notes

Store in the fridge for up to 5 days or freeze for 3 months. Let it thaw in the fridge overnight without reheating.
