Ingredients
  

Burger Mixture
  • 1 can black beans, drained and rinsed A great base for the burger.
  • 1 cup cooked quinoa Adds protein and texture.
  • 1 cup mushrooms, finely chopped Provides umami flavor.
  • 1/2 onion diced For sweetness and depth.
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced Enhances flavor.
  • 1 tsp cumin Adds warm earthiness.
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika Adds a smokey flavor.
  • 1/2 tsp salt For seasoning.
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper For seasoning.
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs Helps bind the mixture.
  • 1 tbsp olive oil For greasing the grill or skillet.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, mash the black beans with a fork or potato masher until mostly smooth.
  2. Add the cooked quinoa, chopped mushrooms, diced onion, minced garlic, cumin, smoked paprika, salt, black pepper, and breadcrumbs to the bowl.
  3. Mix until combined; refrigerate the mixture for 30 minutes.
Cooking
  1. Preheat the grill or stove over medium heat and lightly oil the surface.
  2. Shape the mixture into patties.
  3. Grill the patties for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until heated through and crispy.
Serving
  1. Serve on buns with your favorite toppings.

Notes

For best results, do not skip refrigerating the mixture; it helps the patties hold their shape. These burgers can be served with various toppings such as lettuce, tomatoes, and avocado. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days, or frozen for up to 3 months.
