Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 1 cup almond flour
  • 1 cup cocoa powder Don't skimp on the cocoa for intense chocolate flavor!
  • 1/2 cup coconut sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup Can swap with agave for a unique taste.
  • 1/4 cup coconut oil, melted
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8-inch square baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine almond flour, cocoa powder, coconut sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, mix together the melted coconut oil, maple syrup, applesauce, and vanilla extract.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
  5. Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly.
Baking
  1. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  2. Allow cooling in the pan before slicing into squares. Enjoy!

Notes

These brownies serve beautifully warm, or topped with coconut ice cream and drizzled with chocolate sauce. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week or freeze for up to three months.
